WHAT DOES BEING IN A COMPETITION CLASS MEAN?

Being in a DD COMPETITION TEAM is very exciting however it does require much more commitment and there are many more costs involved. You get to represent DD at competitions and various events through out the year. You will get many more performance opportunities. Competition classes are for those students wanting to take their dancing/cheer to the next level.

WHAT DOES BEING IN A COMPETITION CLASS REQUIRE?

Being in a DD competition class requires great commitment you need to be at every class, we do understand circumstances occur but we have a rule that you can not miss more then 1 practices per term. Team work is extremely important in competition classes and students being absent from classes holds our class progress up.

To be in a dance performance team you must also take class in ballet, and at least one another class in either jazz, contemporary, hiphop or SSLT class.

You are required to own DD uniform and all appropriate shoes.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF A COMPETITION STUDENT?

You are expected to show great commitment to your team and coach. As above attendance is extremely important. Competitions are compulsory and you must be able to attend all dates listed. You are a role model within DD, so good and positive behaviour towards you fellow DD peers is very important. You must be always dressed appropriately and arrive on time for class. Fees must always be up to date. Costumes/uniforms must always be paid on time. You must be hard working and willing to learn and take on corrections.

WHAT ARE THE EXTRA COST INVOLVED?

All cheerleaders need the following: *uniform RANGE $290-$350 * cheer shoes $110+ * Comp bow $22-$25.

All Dancers need the following : All dancers will require costumes for routines ranging in price from $70-$160 each. They need appropriate shoes for each style of routine. They will need dance stockings for jazz and pom routines.

COMP FEES: competition fees are expensive however the competitions are very well run and they are getting the experience to perform at some fantastic venues. We will be holding a number of different fundraisers to help cover the costs of competition fees we would love help from all students and their families. All performers will also need to make sure they have all stage makeup and hair accessories needed. AASCF MEMBER SHIP FOR THE YEAR = $20 (needs to be paid with 2024 ENROLMENT FORM)

COMPETITION FAMILIES

Your families play a very important role when being a part of a DD competition team. As they are also committing to pay for all fees involved, plus get you to all classes and competitions. We ask that you have a good discussion with your family and parents and make sure this will also work for them as their support in this is very important.

APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR BY STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES

Competitions students and their families are representing DD at competitions and local events. It is compulsory that students and their families are always acting appropriate and are friendly towards their peers and towards other studios. Please read code of conduct for competition students/families for more details.

IF YOU ARE COMMITTING TO BEING IN A COMPETITION TEAM IN 2019 YOU ARE COMMITTING FOR THE WHOLE YEAR. YOU CAN NOT DROP OUT OR LEAVE A TEAM UNLESS AN INJURY/ SICKNESS OCCURS. YOU MUST BE AT ALL COMPETITIONS.
